Chipped like a dog?

Nearly 10 years ago I heard the first time about RFID which stands for radio frequency identification. Fascinated by this topic I did some researches in my freetime about this technology and where it’s already used in our daily life. I remember that I haven’t planed to write something about it, but the result was a little essay where I’ve documented my findings. The scope where we find RFID technology is wide. For example it’s used in passports, creditcards, customercards, in the logistics field to identify goods or for identification of pets. Since 2007 there is a law in Switzerland that every dog must be chipped and registered. This did lead me to the question if there is also an implantable chip for humans on the market and will it be obligatory to be identified with such a chip in the future? The shocking answer is, yes such a chip exist, but it’s still voluntary.

During my researches I came across a company called „Applied Digital Solutions“ which sold the „Digital Angel“ and „Verichip Corporation“ which sold the „Verichip„. Both products were sold as implantable RFID chips specially designed for humans. During the years the company names above and their products disappeared or were renamed, but their products and visions are still allive. If we trace back the website of Digital Angel Corporation or Applied Digital Solutions with the internetwayback machine we still find many snapshots of its old website where we can find advertising of their implantable RFID chips.

In my essay I did wrote about a club which offers implantable RFID Chips to their customers. Those who wanted could have a microchip implanted under their skin. The chip not only guarantees entry but provides access to a debit account from which they can pay for drinks. The chip they’ve used were from the „Verichip Corporation„, the company which was later in 2009 renamed to „Positive ID Corporation„.

About 5 years I’ve heard only less about the implantable chips, but last year in summer there was again something in the news that made me thinkable. A tattoo studio in Zurich offers to implant RFID/NFC chips to their customers. (For a lager view click on the picture)

Some months later there was a guy in the news which told that inspired by this article above he decided to implant two microchips in his arms. He told one of them was implanted by himself. Simply he ordered such a chip over the internet.

A quick research showed me that there is a website called „Dangerous things„, where you can order a RFID injection kit. How crazy is that?

This year I heard about a company in Sweden who chipped their employees.

2 months ago there was a technology exhibition in Basel (Switzerland) where you could get such a chip implant. The initiators behind it is a little startup company called RFID Choreographies.

Someone proudly blogged about it. I did implant a RFID Chip in Basel.

People wake up! This isn’t funny anymore. I did read lot’s of Sci-Fi storys like George Orwells 1984, Traveler Trilogy, Blackout Trilogy or the Circle. Personally I like such books from this genre, because I get inspirations about what could us await in the future and I believe some of the authors want to warn us about a totalitarianism surveillance system in the future where everything is controlled.

In the chapter of revelation, the bible also warns us also about a totalitarianism where you only can sell or buy when you have the mark. Rev. 13. 16-18

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
